Robert Kennedy Items for Sale at Green Demolitions!

Reading a blog on Dominomag.com, I learned about GreenDemolitions.org.

This organization takes donated housewares (appliances, furniture, fixtures, cabinets, etc.) and sells them at 50-75% off retail.

The Robert F. Kennedy family has donated a SHIT LOAD of stuff to them and it is for sale RIGHT NOW.

Community Forklift, Y'all!

Okay.

I officially have a new favorite warehouse.

Community Forklift in Hyattsville.

Community Forklift is a warehouse home-improvement store that functions almost 100% as a salvage place.

I just bought marble for a shelf I'm putting together with brackets (from Anthropologie, nonetheless, which means I need to save!).

The total I spent on this marble was...drumroll please...$2.

Open Wednesday-Sunday.

Pumpkin Pie

I made this pumpkin pie spontaneously today. I had some extra dough, so I went nuts and did an entire forest autumn thing on the top.

Montgomery Country Agricultural Fair

Oh my goodness!

The MoCo Ag. Fair is fantastic!

I went with a couple of girlfriends and Ben (still not 1 year old, yet). Thank God that Alicia had her amazing phone-camera there, because we had some seriously fantastic moments worthy of capturing for the ages.

The fair is super-clean (could the absence of booze booths have something to do with it?!?!) and very well-organized.

There are clear sections for each thing: Farm area (4H in the hizzouse! FFA in the bizzarn!), Food area, Rides area, Deformed Animals (I mean "sideshow") area.

Some highlights included:

1) First things first! Visit Sampson, the world's largest horse! Sampson is as big as an elephant. Well worth the $1 it takes to get in the tent.

2) Cheese Fries and Bingo: $1 for 3 double-cards. Choose prizes from Winnie the Pooh poster (framed) to glass cake stand. Or neon, beer-sign style wolf clock --my personal fave).

3) Watch friends ride insanely scary rides and take (attempt to) their pictures. Watch 11 year old puke just before friends get on another ride. Listen to friends tell about how they thought the ride was malfuntioning and they were going to die.

4) See poor farm animals who were born with a leg hanging off of either their chest or side. Feed them grains. Let them lick your 11 month old's toes.

5) Walk 4 miles to car, which you thought, at the time, was parked in a "sweet" spot, just by the entrance (oh, THAT entrance...eh.)

6) If you leave at a normal time (not midnight, for example...) you should eat at La Flor de la Canela on 355. It is AMAZING! And it's just around the corner from the fairgrounds. It is Peruvian- and fantastic. Actually, it's my alltime, all world favorite restaurant. Hands down. Order the Pollo Saltado with extra green sauce.

* Extra tip: for those who want a little extra fun, bring your own secret booze in a coke cup, but watch who you breathe on, there are loads of cops all around. Thank god.
